JOB SUMMARY
- The primary role of Machine Operator 1 is to perform a variety of duties by applying value-added processing technologies and performing related measurements to assure quality processing standards are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adjusts heating mechanisms, tension, and speed of machine operation to produce product meeting desired specifications
- Starts machine, monitors operation, makes adjustments as needed, and stops machine when specific amount of product has been produced
- Properly threads fabric through guides and roller of machine
- Operates machine for test run to verify adjustments and to obtain sample of product
- Inspects product to ensure product meets specifications and to determine needs for machine adjustment
- Inspects machinery to determine adjustments or repairs needed and reports to Lead/Supervisor
- Properly documents Daily Production Log records and turns into Processing Technology Lead/Supervisor
- Mixes Chemicals to specifications and scheduling requirements
- Pre-stages chemicals for mixing to minimized changeover time
- Assures appropriate amount of leader yardage is available for efficient operation
- Coordinates and completes sew-ins as required by schedule / customer requirements
- Operates a stand up hi-lo as necessary to retrieve/stage material
- Verifies that equipment (tanks, troughs, etc.) have enough chemical to complete scheduled runs and takes appropriate action to refill and prevent line downtime
- Performs daily housekeeping responsibilities in specified area(s) and cleans finishing line equipment to schedule
- Complies with all applicable safety regulations and wears all PPE when required (mixing chemicals.)
- Participates in team approach for continuous improvement
- Performs other duties as assigned
KEY QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of machine and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to monitor machine operation closely and accurately
- Ability to understand and follow detailed procedures and specifications in verbal and written form
- Ability to pay close attention to details
- Can manually lift up to 90 pounds
- Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Ability to listen and to understand information and ideas presented
- Proficient in FAS
- Ability to order information in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules
- PC literate
- Able to lift 80 pounds consistently
- Good performance history
- Good attendance history
