What attributes do employers have that make them the right fit for working with The Job Post?
While we work with many different types of employers and most are wonderful to work with, there are a few that really stand out. These employers:
- Have similar faith-based values. The Job Post’s connection to Guiding Light Mission naturally influences our goals and values. Other businesses that are founded on faith are, in general, on the same page when it comes to goals and even challenges.
- Are eager to make a positive difference in the community. Simply by working with The Job Post to find employees, your business is doing just that! Since The Job Post’s profits go to Guiding Light’s programs that impact our community, it ultimately results in a sustainable circle—a win-win for everyone! When we all understand this, it makes working together a joy as we strive for this goal.
- Consider hiring employees with an imperfect past. If policies allow it, we may place employees that have made poor decisions in their past but desire a second chance and are willing to work for it. This is especially true when they are a great fit for the job. We all need reliable, responsible employees. At The Job Post, we work very hard to find them for our clients, and won’t send employees that don’t have a good chance at success.
- Employ a sizeable number of employees. While we work with smaller employers, those that have a total employee base of 400 or more result in efficiencies for both the employer and The Job Post that are hard to ignore. When efficiencies result, we are able to find more and better employees, and more funds are raised for Guiding Light. This makes for another great fit.
Can you find employees that will work factory jobs for minimum wage?
Sometimes, but it is important to think about offering a “liveable” wage instead of the lowest one you can. Overall, employees that earn a liveable wage are easier to find, more dependable, and stay longer. You may realize a much higher ROI by paying a higher wage. Compare the advantages to those offering lower wages, experiencing difficulty finding employees, absenteeism, and consistently using temp services to deal with high turnover.
How important is it that, as an employer, we are felony friendly?
Being felony friendly is a high priority when working with The Job Post as your staffing agency—and the more felon-friendly, the better. That’s because we have a pool of former felons that have gone through many hoops to prove what great employees they can be. You are encouraged to review our blog post on why Hiring the Best Employee May be Against Company Policy. Then review the pros and cons in your own company. By revisiting your policy on hiring felons and making things a little more “friendly,” you may end up with some of the best employees available!
What types of measures have you taken in response to COVID-19?
We have established a COVID-19 policy with our parent organization, Guiding Light. This policy has been updated several times to reflect changes in government policy. We currently screen visitors and prospective employees upon entering the building, require masks in most situations, follow 6-foot distancing guidelines to the extent possible, and sanitize often. The Job Post requires employees to follow all COVID policies in place at their assigned locations including vaccine mandates, if applicable.
Will you administer pre-employment testing?
Yes. We are able to administer testing required by clients
Do you provide drug screens?
Yes, our staffing agency provides 10-panel drug screens at the request of clients.
Do you offer health coverage for your employees?
Health coverage is available at an extra cost to each employee.
Is there emergency health coverage in case of an on-site injury?
Yes, we have emergency health coverage through MED1. The injured employee only has to inform them that they are a Job Post employee.
Do you provide PPE?
We assist employees with purchasing Steel Toed Shoes and provide Ear Plugs and Safety Glasses.
Do you provide support for work transportation services?
Yes. We can assist with public transportation costs for employees such as offering bus tickets or paying for Uber-type costs. Arrangements for transportation reimbursement is then made, usually by deducting it from the employee’s paycheck.
How many people apply weekly?
This obviously varies, but typically anywhere between 40 and 60 individuals apply with us per week.
Have all of the employees you provide for us participated in Guiding Light programs?
No. Our staffing agency is open to everyone and our reach is throughout the Greater Grand Rapids Area.
Do you have skilled labor openings?
Yes. We place skilled labor for other Technical Manufacturing jobs such as CNC operators, Welders, and Maintenance Technicians.
Does The Job Post only fill Manufacturing or factory jobs?
In addition to manufacturing and factory jobs, we fill positions in a variety of industries including clerical, hospitality, customer service, construction, and heavy machinery.
Do you specialize in finding employees for entry-level jobs?
We provide employees for both entry-level jobs and for mid to upper-level positions.
Are all of your placements for full-time jobs?
Most placements are for full-time positions, but we also place for part-time and true temp positions.
How many of your applicants are interested in 3rd shift jobs?
Many applicants really enjoy working 3rd shift jobs and plenty of our applicants are available for that schedule. Overall, we have applicants interested in all shifts. Our job openings database is searchable by shift and can display the number of 3rd shift jobs available at any given time.
How soon can you provide a candidate?
You may acquire new candidates typically between 24 hours and 1 week from the time you advise us of an opening. Higher skill level positions may take more time to process the information and complete preliminary vetting functions.
How long is the waiting period before we can direct-hire your employees?
The term of most temp services is 90 days before you can direct hire our employees. This can be negotiated which would impact the cost.
Is there a cost or is it possible to direct hire an employee early?
Yes. This is part of the negotiation.
What is the cost to partner with The Job Post to obtain employees for our business?
We remain competitive within the employment agency market. Ease of fill, quantity of placement, Workers Compensation rate, and skill level requirements impact cost. Quotes will be provided once we meet with you.
What is the process of hiring The Job Post?
Here is a diagram of how it works. A Business Development Manager will meet with your contact person and discuss needs and opportunities to partner. If that meeting produces an incentive for both parties, we begin the negotiation. Once the negotiation is complete, the agreement is drafted and signed by both parties. Then we schedule a tour of your facility with our recruiters and continue learning about processes and expectations. After the tour, we verify that we have all the necessary information to begin sourcing candidates. At this point, we are ready to conduct the process of filling positions.
