The Job Post organized our very first Business Expo last week inviting local businesses to our office in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. The night included education, fellowship, relationship building, and delicious food created by our very own kitchen manager, April Calver.
It was “expect the unexpected” for our staff as we had never done anything like this before. Every person who stepped through our doors became a victory for both The Job Post and Guiding Light. The event was an intimate gathering where a handful of businesses had the opportunity to meet with our team and gain insights into our staffing and other unique offerings. It was a great opportunity for Human Resources and Operations personnel from around Grand Rapids to see the kind of change that happens behind our doors.
Listening to Local Employers
Our team was able to give local business administrators a tour of the Guiding Light facilities where miracles for men in recovery happen daily. The Job Post is a social enterprise of this nonprofit organization, so our profits as a staffing agency go directly to Guiding Light. As a result, when businesses work with The Job Post to obtain employees they need, they are directly impacting the community in a positive way by supporting Guiding Light’s addiction rehab program.
Learning Company Staffing Needs
Our team at the Job Post learned about what employers need in the community and about the retention issues that are currently on the rise in Grand Rapids. We listened to employers’ struggles with employees leaving due to not feeling appreciated, challenges with the pay rates, and the lack of high morale levels.
This event allowed us to connect with company management in person and offer suggestions and strategies they use to combat their HR issues. The Job Post team looks forward to organizing more events in the future to help us as we navigate the Grand Rapids workforce community and further assist employers and employees in our local area.
