The Job Post continues to evolve into becoming one of the best staffing and recruitment agencies in the Grand Rapids area. Going over each year in review is a tribute to its new programs and satisfied employees and employers. Here are some of The Job Post’s highlights in 2022.
Goodwill Partnership
A partnership between The Job Post and Goodwill was officially established that is resulting in a win-win for all. Goodwill sends us candidates who were recently released from prison and are eagerly looking for work. We work with Goodwill case workers who provide assistance to these individuals through sustainable housing, career coaching and emotional supports.
Many of these candidates have significant barriers to employment. The Job Post does its best to provide them with long-term jobs at a livable wage. The partnership was started in February of 2022 and we’ve successfully placed over 20 individuals in jobs. This partnership is meeting its goals of helping to reduce recidivism in our community.
Employee of the Month Program
Great employees generally don’t last long at The Job Post because their temp jobs turn permanent! As a way to recognize and show appreciation to some of the best employees while they are working directly for us, an Employee of the Month program was started in late fall.
Employees who receive this honor have their picture taken and a post is put up, both on Facebook and on our home page. In addition, they receive a $100 gift card! 2022 winners are:
- Daniel – Hutchinson
- Jason – Lear Corporation
Stellar employees are nominated by our staff or by the employer for which they are temporarily working. It is sometimes hard to choose!
Contests, contests, contests
It is fun to give things away, and even more fun if the winners are those who helped spread the word about The Job Post. As a result, seven contests were held last year. They included:
- Valentines’ Day
- St. Patrick’s day
- Grill contest (May)
- Summer Contest (August)
- October contest
- Thanksgiving
- Holiday
There were different rules for entering, but most involved sharing a Facebook Post or two. The prizes were varied – from a grill to start the summer season to a slow cooker, watch, and gift cards. Keep an eye out for more giveaways in 2023!
Job Fair at Lear
Lear was in need of employees and so we gave them an extra push by holding a job fair. It was held on July 14th at their offices located at 5271 Plainfield. To get the word out, the event was advertised on Facebook, Google, and in our Job Alert email.
Interviews were granted on the spot and interviewees were invited to tour the facilities. There were 15 hires within a few days of the event, and numerous potential candidates were hired at later dates for either Lear or other employer clients. Everyone was pleased with this successful event!
Employee & Customer Appreciation Picnic
It was a hot day but with sunny skies, we were not complaining. Over 300 hot dogs were consumed by 27 program participants, 14 staff, and 115 guests, for a grand total of 156 satisfied tummies and smiling faces. It was an awesome turnout at our first Employee & Customer Appreciation Picnic.
We found ourselves sticking to the shady spots, enjoying grilled hot dogs and fixins, and chatting with other Job Post employees. There were free t-shirts and a drawing too! It was a fun way to show employees how much they are appreciated, celebrate our own blessings, and share them with others.
Employee Stories and Company Case Studies
Three employees and one employer told us in-depth information about their experience with The Job Post. Their stories are outlined in employer stories or case studies posted to this website. Feel free to find out why these individuals or companies are so special and how The Job Post helped them overcome some challenging times.
Overall 2022 was a great year for The Job Post and we look forward to what 2023 will bring!
